Building a Positive foundation for you and your dog, right from the Start!
Our Training Philosophy
Dogs are family and should be trained as such. At Positive Start Dog Training, your dog will be treated as part of our family and trained in our home during our 1:1 immersive Board & Train Programs.
Dogs learn best by having their good behaviors reinforced in real-world situations all throughout the day, so during the immersive Board & Train Programs, your dog will get continuous training throughout the day, not just a designated hour of training time. While our family eats breakfast, your dog will practice good table manners. When our family goes for a walk or a hike, your dog will practice loose leash walking and paying attention amongst distractions (like those pesky squirrels!). This immersive positive training creates faster learning and stronger relationships.
Every animal and family situation is unique, so we create customized training plans that work best for you and your dog. We make training fun with a focus on positive reinforcement and building a relationship based on trust, never on fear, and are committed to humane, ethical, and scientifically-based training methods using applied behavior analysis.
This is not a boot camp, it’s becoming part of the FAMILY camp!

Our home (and your dog’s home away from home) is located in Orchard Park, NY, just outside of Buffalo. Pick-up and drop-off within 60 miles is included in the Puppy Foundations and Advanced Manners packages. If you are further away, please contact us to discuss your location and potential travel fees.
